Intermediator framework protocol for information sources registration at heterogeneous mediators

چکیده
The intermediator framework is required to support heterogeneous subject mediators interoperability in diverse world of mediation platforms that can be observed in distributed digital libraries and other areas. The intermediator framework based on the “local as view” mediation approach is introduced. The paper focuses on a protocol supporting registration of a mediator information (source) at another mediator. It is proposed to use a subset of OAI protocol to support such registration exchanging metainformation uniformly represented in the canonical model of the intermediator framework.

Value Reconciliation in Mediators of Heterogeneous Information Collections Applying Well-Structured Context Specifications
Method for value reconciliation in Local as Views (LAV) mediators of heterogeneous information collections applying well-structured specifications is presented. This approach extends a procedure for heterogeneous information sources registration at subject mediators with LAV organization. Conflicts in value semantics and representation in contexts of the mediator and a collection should be reco...
متن کاملMIWeb: Mediator-based Integration of Web Sources
MIWeb realizes a mediator-based integration of heterogeneous metadata sources over the Web. Mediators are well known from database integration. They improve the quality of search results by providing a query language, by automatically coupling sources, and by filtering redundant results. The MIWeb system contributes mediator architectures in the context of Web sources, metadata standards for in...

Database administrators must deal with fragile mediators, that is, mediators with schemas and views that must be si...
متن کاملMaking Interoperation Tractable
A variety of solutions have been suggested for managing heterogeneity among data sources. We are developing a runtime environment and tools that support integration of online information processing services in digital libraries. We introduce canonical wrappers that provide logical abstractions for the native interfaces of components. They enable mediators to reason about interfaces of heterogen...
متن کاملA Conflict Resolution Environment for Autonomous Mediation Among Heterogeneous Databases
Our objective in this research is to develop a formal framework and methodology to facilitate semantic interoperability among distributed and heterogeneous information systems. The primary research question is, “how do we identify and resolve various dataand schematic-level conflicts among such disparate information sources?” A comprehensive formal framework for managing various semantic confli...
